I use guacamole on everything-it is so healthy for you, and has good fats that your body needs-I put guacamole out as an appetizer before dinner, and I always have big bowl on hand during footbal games-I put a big scoop on top of grilled steak or chicken-eat it with my eggs in the morning-you can use it on sandwiches instead of mayonaise-serve it with raw veggies, and use it for a dip-there are so many uses for guacamole (plus it just goes so well with a big margarita!). I have tweaked this recipe for a few years, and wanted to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you think~Bon Apetit!
Guacamole Ingredients:
- 2-3 ripe Haas Avocados (I don’t like the green avovcados-they seem to lack flavor, and are watery)
- 1-3 Cloves garlic (pressed through a garlic press)
- 1/4 of an Onion-minced (you can use a yellow or red onion)
- 4-5 T fresh chopped Cilantro
- 1 ripe tomato-chopped or 1/8 c Salsa
- 1/2 t ground Cumin
- @2 T Olive oil
- @2T fresh Squeezed lemon or lime
- Kosher Salt and Pepper to taste
*An optional extra ingredient that I have added is 1/2 c. Black Beans-it isn’t as green and pretty, but it tastes yummy!
Smash all ingredients till creamy or lumpy-whichever you prefer. Serve with Tortilla chips.
~TIPS:I always use a plastic cup to smash the ingredients together. If you have some guacamole left over and you want to store it overnight in the refrigerator, keep the seeds of the avocado, and bury them in the guacamole (only the top and edges turn brown-inside is still a nice green color when you put the seeds in)
